The Giving Tree

The Mount Horeb Area Giving Tree was started in 1992 with the idea to replicate the Giving Trees in the Madison Malls.

In June of 2023 this program merged into Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

This program provides gifts to families and individuals in need who qualify. Individuals are connected to this program by recommendation through the Mount Horeb Area School District, Madison Area Rehabilitation Center (MARC- Mount Horeb location), the Mount Horeb Senior Center, and Ingleside Assisted Living.

Gifts are secured to fill requests through multiple avenues. A Giving Tree is set up at Miller and Sons Supermarket with over 100 tags to start with, as tags are removed additional tags are added.

Tags are also provided to other small businesses throughout Mount Horeb to put on their own Christmas trees.

Each tag has the recipient's age and their gift request.

Additionally, a "virtual tree" is set up, using sign up genius, with about 75-100 gift requests on our website if people prefer to do their shopping online.
